Most elite runners do not lose any performance in the 1-3 years post pregnancy

šŸ¤°šŸƒā€ā™€ļøšŸ‹ļøā€ā™€ļø There have been plenty of examples of elite athletes returning to competition after pregnancy in dominating fashion. CrossFitĀ®, athletics, tennis,… you name the sport.


šŸ‘€ As a father myself, it always boggled my mind to see how resilient and adaptable the female body is.

šŸ“ˆ In this new study, the effect of pregnancy on training volume and performance was put into numbers and the results are pretty extraordinary.

ā€œIn 60% of all runners who intended to return to equivalent performance levels post- pregnancy, there was no statistical decrease in performance in the 1 to-3 years post compared to pre-pregnancy, and 46% improved performances post-pregnancy."

šŸ’” So in most of the elite runners, pregnancy did not negatively affect performance and in some of them, it gave them super powers. Simply incredible.
