🔥 💪 We talk a lot about how training or protein intake can influence the synthesis of new proteins in the muscle. And how this eventually correlates to muscle growth on the long term.
👀 This study nicely shows that changes in muscle protein synthesis indeed correlate to muscle growth, but only after 8 weeks of training (thus, in the ‘trained state’). If you would measure the change in muscle protein synthesis from rest to right after acute instance training in an untrained subject, this would not be indicative of future muscle growth. Something to take into account when evaluating future studies on MPS.
👨 👩 The authors also compared men vs. women, which is always nice to see. Have a look by swiping left and/or reading the full text here: PMID: 35081094
